B.P. Hasdeu Musical-Drama Theatre (Romanian: Teatrul Muzical-Dramatic B.P. Hasdeu) in Cahul, Moldova, is a public theatre founded in 1987 by graduates of the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts of Chișinău.[1] It was given the name of the Romanian writer Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu. Cahul Musical-Drama Theatre is the only professional theatre company in the southern region of Moldova.[2]
History
The Musical-Drama Theatre was founded on 25 March 1987, as the Republican Musical-Drama Theatre of Cahul. On 17 October 1987, the inauguration festivities took place with the play Trei crai de la răsărit (Three magi from the east), by B.P. Hasdeu.[3]
