The Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (English: Deposits and Consignments Fund) is a French financial organization created in 1816, and part of the government institutions under the control of the Parliament. Since 2014, Pierre-René Lemas has served as its Chairman.[2]

History

The Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations was established in 1816 by Luigi Emanuele Corvetto, Finance Minister under King Louis XVIII, to safeguard public funds, including the country's civil servants' pension funds and retirement accounts.[3]

Nowadays, the Caisse des dépôts et consignations manages and reinvests savings accounts.[4] Moreover, through part of the funds of Livret A, it builds social housing.[5]

In 2009, Caisse des Dépots, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, KfW and European Investment Bank founded the Long-Term Investors Club.[6]
