Cake Wars is an American reality competition series which was first broadcast on June 29, 2015[1] and aired on the cable television network Food Network. Jonathan Bennett hosts this grueling competition where four expert bakers go toe-to-toe to see whose mind-blowing cake creation will be the star of a major event, earning them the $10,000 prize. Master pastry chefs and judges Waylynn Lucas and Ron Ben-Israel determine which cakes are worthy of headlining parties for things such as The Simpsons, The Sound of Music, DC Comics and more.[2]

The show is similar to Cupcake Wars, both baking shows air on the same network. The difference between them is that Cake Wars contestants make their project out of a few cakes, whereas the Cupcake Wars contestants make their projects out of a bunch of cupcakes.

It was announced on December 2, 2015 that Cake Wars would be renewed for a second season. The new season will feature 13 episodes that include Star Wars, Dr. Seuss, and Willy Wonka cakes.[3] It is a fun show what has many varieties of cakes and cupcakes that has different themes of design and puts the bakers skills to the ultimate test with the pressure of time.

The show invites cake bakers from all over the United States to compete. Each episode is centered on the theme or event; past themes include a birthday party for baby hippo from the Los Angeles, a party for the 45th Anniversary of the classic film Willy Wonka, and a film festival, etc.
