Caleb Maupin is an American journalist[1] and political analyst.[2] Tasnim News Agency described him as "a native of Ohio who has campaigned against war and the U.S. financial system."[3] He was a member of Workers World Party,[4] and Fight Imperialism – Stand Together (FIST) (WWP's youth wing). He also worked as a youth organizer for the International Action Center and was involved in the Occupy Wall Street movement from its planning stages.[5] His political activism began while attending Baldwin-Wallace College in Ohio.[6] In 2010, he video recorded a confrontation between Collinwood High School students who walked out to protest teacher layoffs and the police.[7] His video footage resulted in one of the students being acquitted in juvenile court.[8] He was a figure within the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York City.[9][10][11] Maupin writes on American foreign policy and other social issues.[12] Maupin supports New York City politician Charles Barron, and has also made numerous appearances on RT and Press TV.[13] He was a featured guest at the 2014 New Horizon Conference in the Islamic Republic of Iran.[14][15] On September 6, 2013, he appeared on CNN as a representative of those protesting US intervention in Syria.[16] In May of 2015, he accompanied a mission of the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Yemen, on the Iran Shahed Rescue Ship. [17] The ship did not reach Yemen, but was diverted to the port of Djibouti after massive Saudi bombing of the port of the Hodiedah, and a plot to attack the ship was discovered.[18] In February of 2016 he was the featured international speaker at the Second Congress of the Trade Union Center of Brazil. [19] He gave a lengthy address describing efforts by US corporations to manipulate the price of oil. [20]
