The Rosner's Hairstreak (Callophrys rosneri) is a butterfly of the Lycaenidae family. It is found in British Columbia.[1] and Washington state. Subspecies plicataria is known as Barry's Hairstreak.
The larvae of ssp. rosneri feed on Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata),[1] while the larvae of ssp. plicataria feed on Rocky Mountain Juniper (Juniperus scopulorum).
Subspecies
- C. r. rosneri – Rosner's Hairstreak (interior ranges of British Columbia)
- C. r. plicataria Johnson, 1976 – Barry's Hairstreak (Vancouver Island and Coast Range of British Columbia, Washington)
Taxonomy
Both rosneri and plicataria are often treated as subspecies of Callophrys gryneus. Callophrys barryi is a synonym of plicataria.[2]
