The Campbell Fighting Camels wrestling team represents Campbell University of Buies Creek, North Carolina. The squad is coached by Cary Kolat, an assistant coach at North Carolina before coming to Campbell. He was a four time All-American and a two-time national champion for the Lock Haven Bald Eagles. The Fighting Camels are associate members of the Southern Conference.

History

Wrestling was founded at Campbell in 1968 under the guidance of Gerald Brown. There have been nine different coaches that directed the Camels over the past 40 years. The most notable coach would have to be Dave Auble (1999–2004), a former U.S. Olympic wrestling coach. The most successful coach was Jerry Hartman (1981–1988) who had a record of 80-39 in his career as head coach.

The Fighting Camels are associate members of the Southern Conference for wrestling since the Big South Conference does not sponsor the sport. The Camels have yet to have a wrestler reach All-American status, but they have sent seven wrestlers to the NCAA Wrestling Team Championship.[1]
