Canadian Women in Literary Arts (CWILA) is a Canadian founded in 2012 that promotes equity and equality of representation in the Canadian literary community.
History
Canadian Women in Literary Arts (CWILA) is a not-for-profit association founded in 2012 by poet and essayist Gillian Jerome. CWILA is similar to the Vida: Women in Literary Arts organization, which is best known for The Count of literary journals' gender bias.[1] In 2012, CWILA published their first count of 14 Canadian literary publication. This count measured the number of female- and male-authored books that are reviewed by Canadian publications and of the gender of the reviewers.[2][3] In 2013, CWILA's count expanded to 25 publications and included a metric for gender queer authors.[4] In 2014, the count included 31 publications.[5]
