DJ Carl Blaze (born Carlos Rivera; November 15, 1976 - December 23, 2006) was a well-known American DJ of Dominican descent on New York City's popular Hip-Hop and R&B radio station Power 105.1 for over three years. He hosted many parties and was a DJ for several clubs throughout New York City. Rivera was born in the Washington Heights section of New York.
Death
On December 7, 2006 Carl Blaze was the victim of a fatal shooting outside an apartment building near the Inwood section of Manhattan where he was said to have been shot 12 to 16 times at about 4:30 am. Sources say that a diamond chain was stolen from him at the scene. The chain was said to be worth roughly around $20,000-$25,000. He was taken to Harlem Hospital Center, where he died Saturday, December 23. No arrest has been made and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.[1][2]
