Carol Lynn Maillard (born 1951) is an African-American actress, singer and composer. She was one of the founding members of the a cappella ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock.
Biography
Early life and education
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Carol Maillard was a student of the GESU SCHOOL in Philadelphia and also graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School and graduated from The Catholic University of America in 1973.
Career
Her acting credits include roles on Broadway (Eubie!, Comin' Uptown, Beehive); Off-Broadway (in several Negro Ensemble Company productions and in the New York Shakespeare Festival); television (For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf,[1] Hallelujah!); and film (Beloved, Thirty to Life). Maillard has also been a guest vocalist for artists Horace Silver and Betty Buckley. She is an original member of the a cappella group Sweet Honey in the Rock.
Marriage and children
Maillard has a son, Jordan.
