Cary A Kochman (/ˈkmæn/ KOHCH-mæn; born April 1965) is the Head of the North American Mergers and Acquisitions Group at Citigroup and the Co-Head of the Chicago Citi office. He has over 25 years of investment banking experience.[1] Prior to joining Citigroup in 2011, Kochman was Global Head of M&A for UBS & Co-Head of the Midwest Region. Before joining UBS Investment Bank in 2004, Kochman was the Head of the U.S. M&A Department for Credit Suisse. He worked at Credit Suisse (CS and The First Boston Corporation as it was previously known) for over 14 years.

Kochman graduated from the Honors College at the University of Illinois at Chicago with his B.S. in Accounting (he also studied Philosophy). He continued his education at the University of Chicago where he received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and his M.B.A. from the Booth School of Business. He is a distinguished alumn of the University of Illinois at Chicago. While at the University of Chicago, Mr. Kochman was awarded a Nikko Fellowship for study in Japan. He also completed a term of studies at The London Business School (LBS).

Kochman specializes in mergers and acquisitions, activism defense, strategic hostile defense, divestitures, corporate takeovers, and is also considered a leading cross-border M&A expert. As a banker, he serves as an advisor to directors, special committees, management teams, and governments. He has completed over $400 billion worth of transactions.

Kochman is also a regular speaker and panelist. He lectures at Northwestern University's MergerWeek. Kochman is active across many of Chicago's leading civic organizations including the Executives' Club of Chicago, The Economic Club of Chicago, the Commercial Club of Chicago and acting as a Trustee of the Shedd Aquarium. He is member of The Council On Chicago Booth. In the past, he served on the Advisory Board for The University of Chicago Law School.He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Council for Emerging National Security Affairs (CENSA).
