Overview

Founded in 1990 as an experimental art space on the Lange Nieuwestraat. In 2006, the institute was reoriented and introduced a critical programme to question art and its relation between the physical surroundings, social encounters and political environment.[3] In 2005, Casco took a new title 'Office for Art, Design and Theory' to expand its framework to artistic research and interdisciplinary practices.[4] In 2007, the institute moved to a new location on the Lange Nieuwstraat, designed by ifau (institute for applied urbanism) and Jesko Fezer.[5]
