After they all leave, Conan finds Genta coming out of the kitchen instead of the restroom. Haibara in the meantime has been making miniature snow animals sculptures. While they all return after playing, Aya calls out to them, as she is returning from the narrow mountain path. During dinner, Ayumi is put off by the scent of garlic. This causes Conan to wonder because none of the food should have garlic as ingredient. After dinner Aya reminds Juri to take her medicine, but it's disappeared. Masahiko offers to get it from the hospital, even though there's a snowstorm. After a while, a phone call comes from the hospital saying that he hasn't been there. Everyone begins to worry. Juri rings his mobile but he doesn't answer. Everyone (excluding Juri) goes out searching for him. Masahiko's car is still parked and they deduce he must have walked to the hospital by taking the narrow, faster path. Conan discovers his corpse off the narrow path and it seems like he slipped and fell to his death. The police are unable to come because of the snowstorm, but Conan preserves the scene. Professor Agasa thinks it's an accident but Conan wonders why Masahiko chose a dangerous path during a snowstorm, but the sisters tell him its faster to reach the hospital that way while walking. He finds some fragments of something shiny in the snow. Conan asks Aya if she went to town this afternoon since they saw her coming from there. When back in the lodge, Juri breaks down and blames herself. That night, as Conan is thinking while sitting on the steps, he hears a door squeak open. He discovers 'Monaka ice' in the store room. Searching the vicinity for Chiro, they find the kitten inside a well in a park, but as they try to return it, Mrs. Higaki does not answer the doorbell, so they take the cat back to Agasa's house to feed it. After contacting Detective Chiba to learn whether there have been any accidents in the area (none have), Conan tries to contact Ai through her badge, but to no avail. And it's no small wonder, since at that very moment Haibara awakes to find both herself and Mrs. Higaki inside a darkened living room, solidly tied and gagged! As soon as her situation becomes clear and she has realized that she has been out for five hours, Ai remembers how she came by after concluding her shopping and spotted Chiro struggling with his shawl, which was wrapped around the leg of a telephone table. He says that the corpse just had to have a hole in the skull to deduce that it was Akai, since the body was burnt. Vermouth laughs, and tells him that there's a video captured from Kir's neck confirming it was Akai with his last words 'To think you've come this far', and also questions him about the fingerprints getting confirmed by the Japanese Police due to a request from FBI. He asks out of a fat man with greasy fingers, a thin man and an old man with a pacemaker whose prints might be left behind on the phone - to which Subaru answers that it must be the thin man. Amuro says that the print on the phone is right hand's, while Akai is left handed. He says that Akai might have covered his fingers with something so that prints might not be left behind when he picked the phone. Subaru questions Amuro how Akai escaped. Amuro tells him that Kir must have cooperated with Akai, that Professor Agasa might have given him a device which would splurt false blood when shot with a blank. Also, knowing Gin, who always shot his victims in the head, he could predict that Kir would be asked the same. Amuro also says that this had to be someone else's plan, assuming that Akai's last words, 'To think you've come this far' are to be completed with 'with your predictions'. Meanwhile, Jodie also arrives at the same answers while talking with Camel and realizes that Subaru is Akai. Camel notices that they are being followed. Amuro tells Subaru that he still hasn't understood the connection between Conan and Kudo Yusaku and offers Subaru a phone, saying he better come clean if he wants to save his friends. Jodie and Camel manage to escape past car barricades due to Camel's awesome driving, but they end up damaging a tire, and Camel tells Jodie that they might not be able to move far. Amuro notices cameras installed in the house and we see Conan watching the videos from another room. He tells Subaru that Agasa stopped selling a choker voice changer since it was useful for stalkers to make prank calls. He says that Subaru has been hiding this voice changer in his turtle neck and goes to check it, but finds nothing under Subaru's clothes. Meanwhile, the chasers catch-up with Camel & Jodie and when there's no hope of escape, a voice behind them asks Camel to open the roof. When Camel does, they find Akai in the backseat. Akai asks Camel to keep the car steady for another 5 seconds. The chasers fall back, shocked and inform Amuro about Akai. | ||

He also tells him he figured out Amuro's identity, and that it was careless to let slip his chilhood nickname, Zero. Akai calls Amuro as Furuya Rei and tells Amuro that Amuro's plan was to hand over Akai to the organization to raise his standing. He then warns Amuro to not get distracted from his prey, that he doesn't want Amuro as his enemy, and 'I still feel bad about what happened to him'. Akai and the others leave and Akai tells Judie and Camel that Amuro and the chasers are from another organization. After Amuro leaves, we see that the one dressed up as Subaru is actually Kudo Yusaku, and the one in TV, accepting his award is actually Yukiko. Yusaku reveals the trick behind his disguise. The next day, Jodie and Camel come to Kudo house. They see that Akai is disguised as Subaru to protect Haibara . He tells them that Yukiko had helped him with his disguise and Conan with the plans. Akai tells them that they kept his existence a secret, known only to James (who realized that Akai had coated his fingers) since he had to 'fool friends to fool enemies'. Akai also says that he expected Amuro to come alone, but he came with people from this org, just as Conan predicted; and exclaims that his hatred for Akai might run deeper that he thought. The Detective Boys come for help from Subaru with a trick that Professor Agasa performed in front of them. We later see Amuro with Vermouth, who asks Bourbon to no do something like this again, since Akai is already dead. Amuro tells her that he hopes for her help if something similar came up, since he is one of the few people to know her secret. He warns her that if something happened to him, her secrets will be sent to the entire Organization. He then thinks that the only unexpected thing was Conan asking him if he was really the enemy. Vermouth tells Bourbon to be careful, since Gin is still sniffing after rats in the organization, even after the deaths of Hondo, Akai and Scotch - the man with the SP who died before they got his real name. Akai and Conan reveal the trick Professor made. Akai gets a message from Mizunashi Rena, revealing a codename, Rum.
