The Castle of Redondo (Portuguese: Castelo de Redondo), also known as the Tower of Redondos, is a medieval castle located in the village and parish Redondo, Évora district of Portugal.
It is located on the south side of the Sierra d'Ossa, 24 km southwest of the right bank of the Guadiana River.
History
Part of the network of North Alentejo castles were encouraged to be built during the time of Denis of Portugal (1279-1325). The lands surrounding the castle were donated to nobility during the late medieval period. At the top of the Donjon, one can see Evoramonte Castle and the Serra d'Ossa, in the northwest direction.
The castle later saw some reconstructive effforts during the 16th and 17th century [1]
The remains of its walls and its donjon are classified as a National Monument by a Decree published by the Portuguese government on January 2, 1946.[2][3]
