Catherine Powell

Catherine Clare Powell (born 1967) is a British businesswoman. She is currently the Managing Director of Disney in Australia and New Zealand, and has been appointed to the role of President of Disneyland Paris with effect from July 2016.

Origins and education

Powell was born in 1967. She is the daughter of Sir William Neil Young and Christine Veronica (nee Morley), and was educated at Somerville College, Oxford.[1]

Career

Powell spent several years in the employment of the BBC before transferring to Disney.[2] Having been based in London as a senior Vice-President and General Manager of Disney Media Distribution in Europe, Middle East and Africa, in July 2014 Powell moved to Sydney as Managing Director of Disney Australia.[3] On 12 April 2016 it was announced that Powell would be taking up a new role as President of Euro Disney S.A.S., the management company of both the holding company and the operator of Disneyland Paris.[4]

Personal life

Powell is married to Hugh Powell, the son of Charles and Carla Powell. The couple have three sons.
