1/01-1 | 31 July 2013 | Series Premiere
Heidi, Katy, Janet and Jo took part in the Mystery Box Challenge. The first Mystery Box contained these ingredients: spider crab, filo pastry, pineapple, spinach, chilli, spring onions, pistachios and tomatoes. Heidi, Katy, Janet and Jo had fifty minutes to make a dish using just these ingredients. Following this test, the four celebrities competed in a Palate Test, in which they had to recreate John's Chinese five spice duck breast, duck dumplings and soup dish. The judges then set them the task of catering for over one hundred Cirque du Soleil performers, separating Katy and Janet into one team and Jo and Heidi into another. After these three challenges, it was evident that Katy and Janet had gained the upper hand in terms of the cooking ability they presented to the two judges. |

2/01-2 | 1 August 2013 | Elimination #1
Heidi, Katy, Janet and Jo competed in pairs of two, with Janet and Jo in one pair and Katy and Heidi in the other, in their first challenge of the day. For their first challenge, the respective pairs had to work in catering in two of London's top restaurants; Janet and Jo worked in Le Pont de la Tour, whilst Katy and Heidi served customers in the pan-Asian restaurant Gilgamesh. After this challenging test, the celebrities were tasked in their pairs with creating both a main course and a dessert dish within one hour and ten minutes in an Invention Test. Finally, the celebrities were given just one hour to individually make a dish of their own design to present to the judges. Jo and Heidi found themselves in the firing line, with the judges deciding that one of them should be the first to leave the kitchen. Heidi's nerves proved to be her downfall as she was the first to be eliminated. |

Their meals were judged by not only the two judges but also by former Celebrity MasterChef winners Phil Vickery and Lisa Faulkner and by series five finalist Andi Peters. Following this, Jo was eliminated and the other two contestants, Janet and Katy, went through to the semi-finals. |
