Cenotaph is a stand-alone single by German industrial band X Marks the Pedwalk. It was originally released by Zoth Ommog records in Europe as both an LP and CD in 1992 (see 1992 in music).

Summary

Cenotaph is the fourth single by X Marks the Pedwalk, and the fifth by the duo Sevren Ni-Arb and Regan Eracs. At this time, Cenotaph was a turning point in the sound of X Marks the Pedwalk. Early X Marks the Pedwalk was often compared to fellow industrial musicians Skinny Puppy, but by Cenotaph the band had begun to solidify its own sound. Sideline magazine commented: Cenotaph is in the same taste of the wonderful Abattoir maxi. A techno nightmare that will from time to time remind you of Skinny Puppy (probably for the voice?), but X-Marks The Pedwalk is becoming in itself a label of quality." .

Like many of the preceding X Marks the Pedwalk singles, the song Cenotaph does not appear on any of the standard full-length releases. It does, however, make appearances on the compilations Four Fit and Experiences, as well as in part of the song "Mi_X Marks the Pedwalk" on Drawback.

Cenotaph was released by Zoth Ommog records in Europe in 12" format with the catalogue number ZOT 20, and included the first three tracks. The CD version, ZOT 20 CD contained all four tracks.
