Charaxes variata is a butterfly in the Nymphalidae family. It is found in central, southern and north-western and western Zambia.[2] The habitat consists of Cryptosepalum forests.

The larvae feed on Cryptosepalum exfoliatum pseudotaxus, Brachystegia spiciformis, Brachystegia taxifolia and Dicrostachys cinerea.

Taxonomy

Charaxes variata is a member of the large species group Charaxes etheocles

Described as a subspecies of Charaxes viola [3] but ranked as a full species by Williams (2006)[4]
