Chase Simon (born March 11, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for Basquet Manresa of Liga ACB.
Personal life
Simon was raised by his mother Denise Simon on the Westside of Detroit. He attended Elmdale Consevatory for the Visual and Performing Arts elementary school. He thought he would aspire to be a rapper at his early stage in life. He also was in the band as a snare drummer. He stayed many of his years living with his grandparents, Charles and Amelia Simon, as his mother worked late shifts. Simon has a son, Chase Simon jr.It was reported that Simon chose CMU over offers from schools such as Michigan,DePaul, Wisconsin, Xavier, Dayton, and Clemson to stay close to home as well as his relationship with his childhood aau coach, William Eddie, who was hired as an assistant coach at CMU.
College career
Simon initially played for Central Michigan University before leaving due to differences with head coach Ernie Zeigler. He then redshirted his sophomore year after transferring to University of Detroit Mercy's Titans team in the NCAA Division I. During his four seasons with the Titans, he became one of the main contributors on the team. During his senior year, he helped the team win the Horizon League Tournament.[1]
Professional career
Simon went undrafted in 2012, and left for Europe. He signed with Greek club Aris B.C. that season.[2] However, due to the club's financial difficulties, Simon left the team and signed with the Lithuanian club BC Šiauliai.[3]
