Major (R) Chaudhry Qamar Zaman is new Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of Pakistan.[1][2][3] NAB, the country’s top anti-graft watchdog, has almost become dysfunctional after the Supreme Court dismissed the then NAB chairman Fasih Bokhari through its May 28 judgment.[4] Qamar Zaman has held several key posts in his career.[5] Qamar Zaman was criticized in the local media after Supreme Court ordered an investigation of Qamar for his alleged involvement in a major corruption scandal.[6] However, an internal inquiry carried out by his own agency did not lead to any formal charges against him in a court of law.[7] He belongs to Kaira tribe of Gujjars.
