Chausa
Chausa is a block in the Buxar district of Bihar, India. It is situated at the bank of river GANGA.It is a rural block with a population of 42,550 and a literacy rate of 47%.[1]
The area is famous as the site of the Battle of Chausa, in which the forces of Sher Shah Suri defeated Mughal emperor Humayun's army in 1539.[2]
It is located 11 km towards west from District headquarters Buxar. It is a Block headquarter.
Battle of chausa
The Battle (war) of Chausa (June 25, 1539) took place between Mughal Emperor Humayun and Sher Shah Suri (Sher Khan). Humayun was defeated in Chausa War by Sher Shah Suri.
