Cheese in the Trap (Hangul: 치즈인더트랩) is a South Korean television series based on the webtoon of the same name serialized on Naver from 2010 to present, and stars Park Hae-jin, Kim Go-eun and Seo Kang-joon. It aired on cable network tvN on Mondays and Tuesdays for 16 episodes from 4 January 2016[1][2][3][4][5] to 1 March 2016. The ending is original since the webtoon on which it is based had not been completed at the time of filming.

Plot

This drama series shows the delicate relationship between a female university student Hong Seol (Kim Go-eun) and her senior Yoo Jung (Park Hae-jin). Hong Seol does part-time jobs since her household is poor, while Yoo Jung is perfect with good academics and athletics, plus he is kind. However, Yoo Jung also seems to have a dark side with some people holding grudges against him.

Main characters

A college student who seems kind on the outside, but secretly harbors a dark side that only Hong Seol observes. He is attracted to Hong Seol. Later, he asks Seol for a date and she accepts it awkwardly. He often argues with Seol because of his way of doing things, although he does things that way for Seol's sake, but he doesn't like to fight so he apologizes. Yoo Jung, Baek In-ho, and Baek In-ha used to live together. Jung's father wanted to adopt Baek In-ho and Baek In-ha, but only to use them to observe Jung because Jung has a "weird" personality. This made Jung somewhat upset. He felt betrayed. At one point, Jung even overhears Baek In-ho mock him from behind.
A college student who is smart, but awkward in society. She struggles to figure out Yoo Jung's true intentions and is the only one that can see through his exterior.
Yoo Jung's former friend who believes him to be responsible for instigating a fight that damaged his hand, ending his dreams of becoming a pianist. He is on friendly terms with Hong Seol and gets along with her without any effort. He affectionately nicknames Hong Seol, "Dog Fur", and has difficulty expressing his love for Hong Seol.

Baek family

Baek In-ho's selfish and materialistic older sister. Along with In-ho, she is also a childhood friend of Yoo Jung's.

Hong family

Hong Seol's younger brother who has recently returned to Korea from the United States. His parents are apparently more biased towards him, causing Seol to feel envious at times. He likes Kang Ah-young

Yeon-yi university

Hong Seol's best friend. Later she go out with Eun-taek
