Cheetah In August is an American drama television series created by Anthony Bawn for Vimeo On Demand that debuted on August 25, 2015.[1][2] A former track star, August Chandler (aka "Cheetah") struggling with his identity discovers that he possesses a power to heal through the acts of sex. [His] distorted views on love, negatively affects the people closest to him. The journey of the main character, August, from his high school years into adult life is extremely interesting and current to the times of today. Sexuality, love, religion, psychology, and self-hate are all themes that are touched on throughout this series and it definitely raises awareness to societal issues that are often swept under the rug. This project is allowing people to come face to face with situations that happen on a daily basis. Oftentimes, when people are dealing with personal issues they tend to harbor their feelings because they fear being judged. I want people to realize the negative affects that this can cause in hopes that someone watching can find the courage to seek help and break free. Cheetah In August's first season premiered in full on August 25, 2015,[3] The series has been renewed for a second season.

Background

Anthony Bawn created the pilot Cheetah In August for Vimeo.com, which became available for free streaming and download on August 25, 2015. He was inspired by Patrik-Ian Polk, series Noah's Arc that aired in 2005. The show stars Andre Myers and Jonathan Medina, as Therapist and Patient struggle to uncover the real condition of August. August Chandler, Andre Myers, from his high school years into adult life touches on the topics of Sexuality, love, religion, psychology, and self-hate. Dr. Thatcher Anderson, Jonathan Medina, is August's therapists hired by former lover, author, and News Anchor Chanel Houston (Rashad Davis). At the start of the season we are introduced to August's alter ego "Cheetah" whom is the driving force as to why August is prevented from enjoying a monogamous relationship with August's current lover Anthony, (Brandon Anthony). The tables are turned when we discover that August had escaped from an abusive relationship with Chanel, and gets a job, working in a local gay bar called Lady Marmalade owned by Chuck (Donta Morrison) along with his lover Corey (Brentley Willis).

In the midst of hiding from his past August attempts to start over with Anthony. However, Chanel finds August and proclaims his love for him while admitting he is in a new relationship with Brennen (Devion Andrez Coleman), that he plans to go public with the launch of his new book "Doors Open." August finds himself in a corner and calls Thatcher for help. Thatcher's wife Donna, (Judeline Charles), is left in the dark about the developing relationship between August and Thatcher to only to find out through Thatcher's over observant secretary Cora, (Jennipher Lewis). Everything down spirals as Anthony discovers August hunting past and confronts him at Thatcher's office. As all the pages unfold the connection with each character is intertwine within a weave of sex, lies, deception, and murder. This series definitely raises awareness to societal issues that are often swept under the rug. Cheetah In August premiered all twelve episodes simultaneously in late October 2015

Production

Anthony has said that he hopes to use the series to explore ideas of ethnic LGBT identity through a "mentally confused young adult searching for normalcy" and that he pictured how a young black male growing up in a religious family could develop social desegregation within the gay community.
