Chidanand Rajghatta

Chidanand "Chidu" Rajghatta is an Indian-born journalist based in Washington, D.C. He is the present foreign editor and the United States correspondent for the Times of India. He received his Master's Degree in Mass Communication from Bangalore University, Bangalore.

His works mainly consist of reports on politics, diplomacy and strategic affairs. He often writes about arts, literature, sports and issues relating to science and technology. He is the author of The Horse That Flew: How India's Silicon Gurus Spread Their Wings, published by Harper Collins.[1]

In a May 3 article[2] in the Times of India, Chidanand Rajghatta made the controversial statement that the word "nigga" was not offensive when used by African Americans. He was immediately pulled up by conservative desis. The All-India Desi Association of Conservatives (TAIDAC) issued a statement as follows -

"Chidanand Rajghatta's blatant leftist tilt has been obvious for some time now. His deliberate ignoring of Hillary Clinton's scandals in his columns and focusing on bashing Republicans like Donald Trump has been intolerable. Rajghatta has always spoken derisively of the Republican led House of Representatives, subtly calling Paul Ryan a racist, Ted Cruz as intransigent and so on. How Rajghatta has survived this long, drawing a fat salary while insulting half the population of the US (roughly 50% of the US public votes Republican in every election) is a testament to the intellectual laziness of the Times of India Editorial board. What is particularly vexing is that Rajghatta ends his article with the following sentence : On Saturday night at the WHCA dinner, it (the use of the nigga word) seemed quite okay. We would like to ask - Who died and made a bottom feeder like Rajghatta the arbiter of American cultural memes ?? We strongly urge the editors at the Times Of India to take note of this conservative-hating opinion-writer. As a courtesy, we are forwarding a list of articles[3] by Chuddi (sorry Chiddu) to the Donald Trump campaign so that a potential candidate for the President of the United States knows what kind of garbage is written about him in a leading newspaper of India".

TAIDAC further acknowledged that this could damage potential Indo-US relations in the future but said that they were left with no choice because of partisan hacks like Rajghatta who spew their crap unhindered every week.
