Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (CHKD), located in Norfolk, Virginia, is the only freestanding children's hospital in Virginia. [1]

CHKD has a 212 room hospital and serves the medical and surgical needs of children throughout the greater Hampton Roads metro area, the Eastern Shore of Virginia and northeastern North Carolina.

In 1896, a group of community-spirited women formed the Norfolk City Union of The King’s Daughters to provide medical care for indigent mothers and their children. They established a free clinic and visiting nurse service and in 1961 built The King’s Daughters’ Children’s Hospital, with 88 beds and a variety of services. In 1979, the name was changed to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters.

The CHKD Health System operates primary care pediatric practices, surgical practices, multi-service Health Centers and satellite offices throughout its service region.
