Chinyere Pigot is a Surinamese swimmer living in Miami, Florida who attends the University of Connecticut and participates on a collegiate level. Pigot competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics at age fifteen on Suriname's behalf. She used to attend Doral Academy Charter High School in 2011. She was Suriname's flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics. She has coached competitive and survival swimming. She developed the "90/10" approach to learning competitive swimming based on her experience that successful competitive swimming is based 90% on mental preparation and 10% on physical training and strength. She has taught survival swimming to approximately 700 youths, some of whom are disabled. She continues to swim competitively. Her goal is to compete on the US swim team.
