Chris Mattmann is a Principal Data Scientist and the Chief Architect in the Instrument and Data Systems section, at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California. He is Treasurer in Board of Directors, Apache Software Foundation. He is also Director of the Information Retrieval and Data Science Group (IRDS) and Adjunct Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department within University of Southern California's Viterbi School of Engineering.
He co-invented software framework for content detection and analysis Apache Tika with Jérôme Charron, and later wrote a book about it named Tika in Action[1] with Jukka Zitting, which is published by Manning Publications.
