Christopher Sekura (born October 31, 1975) is a Canadian-born Australian ice hockey player who has played for the Sydney Ice Dogs in the Australian Ice Hockey League from 2003, and represented the Australian national team on seven occasions.
Playing career
Sekura first played ice hockey for the West Sydney Ice Dogs (now Sydney Ice Dogs) of the Australian Ice Hockey League in 2003. During his first season he played six games, scoring two goals and recording ten assists. In 2011 Sekura competed in his ninth season with the Ice Dogs, recording 12 points from 18 games. He did not re-sign with the Ice Dogs for the 2012 season.[1][2] Sekura has also played for the Ice Dogs in the New South Wales pre-season tournament, the Wilson Cup. During the 2008 tournament he played five games, scoring four goals and recording three assists.[3]
Sekura was first called up to represent Australia in 2004 where he joined the national senior team to compete in the 2004 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament.[4] Sekura finished the tournament with the most assists, with nine.[5] In 2011 he represented Australia for the seventh time during the 2011 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament. Australia won the tournament after winning all four of their games and finished first in the group standings.[6]
Personal life
Sekura was born on October 31, 1975 in Taber, Alberta, Canada.[1] He started playing ice hockey at the age of three.[7]
