Christian Jensen, Jr. was born November 17, 1868 in Ephraim, Utah, later immigrating to Canada where he became a successful businessman and farmer/rancher in rural Southern Alberta. He was instrumental in establishing several of the leading agricultural organizations of the early 20th Century. The Magrath Irrigation District and the Government of the Province of Alberta, named the first structure in the St. Mary's River Development after Jensen—The Jensen Dam and Jensen Reservoir.[2]
Career
- President of the Canadian Co-operative Wool Growers (1937-1949), named an Honorary Knight of the Golden Fleece March 30th, 1950.[3]
- Inducted to the Canadian Agriculture Hall of Fame, 1962[4][5]
- President Magrath Irrigation District (25 years).
- Member of the provisional board of directors establishing the Alberta Wheat Pool.
- Director and founding father of the Alberta Wheat Pool (22 years).[6]
- Board of Director Canadian Wheat Pool.
- Town of Magrath's[7] second mayor.
- First president of the Southern Alberta Sheep Breeders.[8]
- First president of the Alberta Federation of Agriculture,[9] 1936-1941[10]
- Partner in Jensen Ranching Company, Limited (1907).[11]
- Delegate to the 1st-annual Convention of the Western Canada Irrigation Association (1908) [12]
Church Service
- 1894, three-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints[13] (Mormon) in the Samoa Islands.
- 1911-13, second LDS mission as the 16th president of the Samoa Islands Mission.[14][15][16][17][18]

Son of Christian Jensen and Barbara Christensen Jensdatter, of Redmond, Sevier, Utah, USA.[19][20]
Christian[21] and Allie had five children. Afton (Daivd) Keeler, born Utah; Cleo (Lloyd) Ririe, Lalovee (Lasca) Jensen,[22] Allie (Rondo) Robinson, and Beatrice (Ray) Harker, all born in Alberta.
