Christian Timothy Walton (born 9 November 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays for Brighton & Hove Albion, as a goalkeeper. He has represented England at under-19 and under-20 levels.

Club career

Walton began his career at the age of 10 in the Plymouth Argyle youth system and appeared on the first team bench for the first time 3 days after his 16th birthday for an FA Cup tie against Stourbridge.[2][3] On 15 February 2013, Walton signed for Brighton from Plymouth Argyle on a 3-year deal.[4] On 8 July 2014 Brighton tied Walton to a new 4-year contract.[5] Walton was an unused substitute for Brighton in their first Championship game of the 2014–15 season then on 29 October 2014 he made his professional debut for Brighton aged 18 in a League Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur.[6]

On 21 July 2015, Walton signed for League One club Bury on a season-long loan deal.[7] However, after only 4 League appearances for Bury, Walton returned to Brighton on 1 September 2015 after suffering from an underlying groin injury which also forced his withdrawal from the England U21 squad.[8]

On 19 November 2015 Walton joined former club Plymouth Argyle on a loan deal until January. [9]

International career

Walton's first international call-up was for England under-19s for their friendly against Turkey on 5 March 2014.[10] Walton played in the game.[11] Walton's first England under-20 call-up came for their first fixture of the 2014–15 season, a friendly against Romania,[12] which Walton featured in to win his first cap.[13]
