The Christian Women in Media Association (CWIMA) is an international[1] nonprofit organization[2] that was founded in 2002 as Women in Christian Media[3] by Suellen Roberts, who serves as the organization's president. Christian Women in Media Association (CWIMA) is a professional association dedicated to Connecting Women in Purpose and Vision. With a national platform focused on advancing Christian women in media, our members work in the fields of TV, Radio, Internet, Film, Publishing, Music, and Arts and Entertainment. Our organizational framework promotes and provides opportunities for industry networking, professional equipping, and spiritual refreshment. National Directors are Sharon Hill, Carole Brewer, Jennifer K. Dean, Robin Bertram, Erica Lane, and Teri O'Connor.
CWIMA has a 3 day National Conference each April held in Dallas, Texas with a variety of internationally known speakers and artists as well as media seminars and workshops. The highlight of the event is the Awards Gala with special recognition given to some of the key leaders in media. Under the umbrella of the overall group, CWIMA is also divided into 5 Regions that have quarterly meetings with keynote speakers, musicians, and media seminars.Regional Leaders: Dallas - Dr. Tracey Mitchell, Hollywood - Carol Doyel, Minneapolis - Wendie Pett, Nashville - Monica Schmelter, and New York City - Suellen Roberts. There are also smaller local chapters that meet at regularly scheduled times.
CWIMA National Music Showcase in Nashville, Tennessee, United States, under the direction of Erica Lane, is held each July. This contest is open to Christian female artists and bands who submit entries beforehand. Those selected are then given opportunity to perform live on stage in front of 3 celebrity judges and a live audience.
The Advisory Board for CWIMA includes Robin Bertram, Carole Brewer, Karia Bunting, Dee Chernicky, Jennifer Kennedy Dean, Rosemary Fisher, Jo Ann Fore, Diane Gardner, Kathleen Hardaway, Joan Higley, Sharon Hill, Karol Ladd, Erica Lane, Christie Legg, Raschelle Loudenslager, Marina McLean, Cynthia Mickens, Dr. Tracey Mitchell, Teri O'Connor, Kristi Olson, Wendie Pett, Monica Schmelter, Donna Skell, Dr. Carol Swain, and Alyson Swearingen.
