The Church of St. George (Macedonian: Црква Св. Ѓорѓи) is a 12th-century Macedonian Orthodox monastery located in the village of Kurbinovo in the Republic of Macedonia. According to the research made on the church's frescoes, it is supposed that the church was built in the year 1191 by the Byzantines.[1] The church is a "monument of culture" in the Republic of Macedonia and protected by law.[2] It is also a part of the Prespa - Pelagonia diocese of the Macedonian Orthodox Church - Ohrid Archbishopric.

The church was built during the rule of Isaac II Angelos in the Byzantine Empire, in the foothills of the Baba Mountain.[3] During the 19th century the church was renovated, and in the early 20th century, a wooden ceiling and a porch was built, also the southern and the northern entrances were closed and transformed into two windows.[3]

The frescoes in the monastery are considered one of the best known Byzantine paintings of the Macedonian Renaissance.[4] The painting of the church's interior began on April 25, 1191.[5] The frescoes depict among others Jesus Christ, Gabriel, Mary, Saints Cyril and Methodius, Cyril of Alexandria, Saint John, Parascheva, Saint Demetrius, and Saint George.
