Church of St Thomas More, Subang Jaya
The Church of St Thomas More (STM), is a Roman Catholic parish, located in Sime UEP Industrial Park, Subang Jaya. Officially dedicated and opened on Sunday, 10 April 2011 [1] [2] , by His Grace Most Rev. Murphy Nicholas Xavier Pakiam, the 3rd Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur, it primarily caters to the pastoral needs of the Catholic community living in Subang Jaya, USJ and Putra Heights.
The Church premises consists of 2 blocks - the Church proper and an administrative building (which houses the Parish Office, Parish Priest's Office, and 2 floors with rooms used by Sunday School and various Ministry activities. The Parish Priest's residence is at the top floor of the administrative building).
At Present
Rev. Fr. Raymond Pereira is serving as the Parish Priest of the Church of St Thomas More. Fr Raymond began his new appointment on 1 June 2015, and was installed as Parish Priest on Monday, 22 June 2015 (the Feast of St Thomas More) by His Grace Most Rev Julian Leow, the 4th Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur.
The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), Parish Coordinating Council (PCC) and Parish Finance Committee (and various Parish-based Ministries) assist the Parish Priest in caring for the needs of the parish and parishioners. Zones and BECs come under the purview of the BECCOT and BECAT.

Background and progress
In the mid-1990s, the then Parish Priest of St Francis Xavier Church Petaling Jaya [4] , Rev. Fr. Larry Tan SJ, saw an urgent need to look into the pastoral needs of the Catholic community residing in Subang Jaya and USJ. The longer established churches in Petaling Jaya had experienced overflowing crowds during weekend masses, and it was found that a large number of these had come from Subang Jaya.
Capel Kurnia Kristus (CKK) was established and began a shoplot chapel in USJ11 in 1995 with Rev. Fr. Larry Tan SJ. as the 1st Chapel Administrator. The response to the single Sunset Mass on each Saturday was so overwhelming that soon, a second Sunset Mass was instituted. Sunday School was operating from homes as well as the chapel.
As the size of the congregation continued to expand, the search for a permanent place of worship began in earnest. As a temporary measure, a multi-purpose private school hall in SS13 was used for Sunday and feast day masses from year 2000. Rev. Fr. Simon Yong SJ was the 2nd Chapel Administrator. Sunday School operated in 2 sites - one floor of Sekolah Seri Sedaya and a rented office block about 300m distance. This arrangement continued from 2000 until the present permanent place of worship was completed.
The Church of St Thomas More also provides pastoral care to the ever growing Catholic student population from the colleges and universities in Subang Jaya and Bandar Sunway. A full-time Youth Minister is responsible for outreach and formation.

Catechism in STM
The Catechatical Ministry (Sunday School including RCIC) operates between 10-11am on Sundays with 30+ lessons per year. Enrollment is around 700 students. A team of 80+ volunteer parishioners take up the roles of Catechists, Junior Catechists and the Clerical & Administrative Services. The main purpose of Catechatical Ministry is to complement the primary role of parents / guardians to teach and hand over the Faith to their children as a Preparation for Life. The Catechists also prepare our younger parishioners to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation. Preparation camps are organised as part of the preparation process of these young people. Bible Knowledge classes for Form 4 & 5 students preparing for their SPM exams are held on designated weekday nights. The Post-confirmation group helps young people transition from student to adult members of the Parish.
The Faith Ministry organises programmes for Parishioners. Programmes such as ALPHA, Bible Time Line and CCC are regularly run.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the Ministry that brings "Saul to Paul".
