Ciara Grant (born 11 June 1993) is an Irish international footballer, who plays for UCD Waves.

Club career

Grant spent much of her early career with local side Kilmacrennan Celtic, before transferring to Raheny United in 2011 with the formation Women's National League. This coincided with her attending University College Dublin, where she studies medicine in the same class as international teammate and close friend Dora Gorman. In the league's inaugural season, Raheny finished as runners-up to Peamount United, with Grant providing six goals.[1] Raheny did however manage to beat Peamount in the FAI Women's Cup final in that same year.

In the 2012-13 season, Raheny went on the finish ahead of Peamount, with Grant picking up her first league winners medal in doing so. In November 2013, Grant made headlines by scoring the opening goal in the FAI Women's Cup final against Castlebar Celtic at the Aviva Stadium, in spectacular fashion. With the game scoreless approaching half-time, she controlled the ball before chipping the opposing goalkeeper, with a volley on her weaker left foot, from outside the box.[2] Raheny went on to win 3-2 after extra-time.

In the 2013-14 season, Grant helped Raheny to a second successive league title, scoring two goals in the process. Prior to the 2014-15 season, Grant signed for UCD Waves. In November 2014, she appeared in her third consecutive FAI Women's Cup final, losing out 2-1 after extra-time to her former club, Raheny United.[3]

International career

Grant played 63 times for her country across all underage levels,[4] most notably as a part of the Republic of Ireland team that made it to the quarter final stage of the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Trinidad & Tobago.

Grant made her senior international debut in November 2012, in Ireland's 5–0 friendly loss to the United States in Portland, replacing Niamh Fahey in the 57th minute.[5]
