Clap! Clap!
Cristiano Crisci, commonly known by his producer and DJ name, Clap! Clap! hails from Italy, Europe. [1] He is a long time jazz musician and previously worked under the alias Digi G'Alessio.
Career
Crisci's first release on Origami Sounds in 2013 entitled Gwidingwi Dema marked his arrival onto the electronic music scene as Clap! Clap! [2] Since then he has had numerous critically acclaimed releases on Bristol based label, Black Acre with his inaugural Album Tayi Bebba supported by Gilles Peterson and hailed as one of Okay Africa's 'Best Albums of 2014' with Viarejo featured on GTA V's soundtrack and on Bleep.com 'End of Year Roundup 2014' not forgetting providing the mix that was voted 'NINJA TUNE best SOLID STEEL mix of 2014'. [3]
Crisci's musical style is eclectic and draws from many influences. His productions feature his own field recordings mixed with West African percussions and Latin soca influences but also draw on contemporary electronic music movements with his use of Staccato found in Chicago 'Footwork' and of course Italian folk rhythms and melodies.[4] His global sound is continuously creatively adapting to shifts in technology available with his most recent A/V performance at Koko, London serving as a testament to this.[5]
Crisci's stellar productions and unique style have been noticed by the likes of Paul Simon. Clap! Clap! provided additional production on 3 of the tracks in Paul Simon's album Stranger to Stranger.[6] 'The Werewolf', 'Street Angel' and 'Wristband' include 'Beats by Clap! Clap!' and use African sounds with a modern electronic dance twist providing both fans of Paul Simon and Clap! Clap! with an entirely new listening experience.
