Coastal Pines Technical College
The Okefenokee Technical College (formerly Okefenokee Technical College) is a two-year postsecondary institution with two campuses in the rural towns of Waycross and Alma in southeastern Georgia. The school offers associate's degree, certificate or diploma programs in the areas of allied health, business and computer, personal services, and technical and industrial technology.
The school began in 1962 when a bond referendum was approved for construction of the Waycross-Ware County Area Vocational Technical School. The school opened the Waycross campus in 1965. The second campus in Alma, Georgia, was opened in September 1998. Current combined enrollment exceeds 2,000 students.[1]
The school is a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia,[2] which includes 28 technical colleges and 31 satellite campuses. The school is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
