Coat of arms of Ålesund
The coat of arms of Ålesund was approved by Royal Resolution on April 1, 1898. It was created by the artist Andreas Bloch (1860–1917). The motif, a fishing boat described in 1762 on Sunnmøre, alludes to the city's history and commerce.
