The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) is the principal department of the Colorado state government[1] responsible for licensing and consumer protection.[2] Governor Bill Ritter appointed Barbara J. Kelley as Executive Director in November 2009.[3]

Structure

Division Description
Division of Banking
  • Examines all state-chartered or licensed financial institutions under its supervision.
Division of Civil Rights
  • Regulates discrimination in employment, housing and places of public accommodation.
Division of Financial Services
  • Regulates the business of state chartered credit unions, savings and loan associations and the financial activities of life care institutions under its supervision.
Division of Insurance
  • Regulates the insurance industry and assists consumers and other stakeholders with insurance issues.
Colorado Division of Professions and Occupations
  • Licenses over 50 professions, occupations and businesses.
Division of Real Estate
  • Licenses and enforces laws for real estate brokers, mortgage brokers and appraisers.
Division of Securities
  • Investigates cases of potential investment fraud and examines licensed investment advisers and stockbrokers.
Office of Consumer Counsel
  • Represents the interests of residential, small business and agricultural consumers before the Public Utilities Commission.
Colorado Public Utilities Commission
  • Regulates public utilities.
