Colours is an album by American jazz saxophonist Sam Rivers featuring Winds of Manhattan, an 11 piece woodwind orchestra, recorded in 1982 for the Italian Black Saint label.[1] The album is entirely through-composed with some sections of group improvisation. According to participant Steve Coleman, solo improvisations were edited out prior to the album's release in order to shorten the track times.[2]
Reception
The Allmusic review by Ron Wynn awarded the album 3 stars stating it had "Stomping, swinging arrangements".[3]
