Columbus Nova is an investment company founded in 2000 and centered in New York City. As of 2015, its key people are CEO Andrew Intrater, Senior Managing Partner Jason Epstein, and Senior Managing Partner Paul Lipari. The company is a multi-strategy investment firm with over $15 billion USD of assets in its own funds and affiliated portfolio companies, including Daybreak Game Company, Fiverr, and Rhapsody.[2] Columbus Nova is the U.S.-based affiliate of the Renova Group of companies, one of the largest Russian strategic investors in the metallurgical, oil, machine engineering, mining, chemical, construction, housing, utilities and financial sectors.[3]

On September 17, 2013, online music service Rhapsody International announced that it would accept a "significant" investment of an undisclosed amount from Columbus Nova Technology Partners. At the same time, it was announced that Rhapsody president Jon Irwin would step down and the company would lay off some of its workers.[4]

On February 2, 2015, it was announced that Columbus Nova has acquired Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) from its parent company, Sony. Now independent from the electronics corporation, SOE has been renamed Daybreak Game Company.[5][6] Daybreak will continue to produce its roster of massively multiplayer online games, such as EverQuest and DC Universe Online. It was then announced, on February 11, that a number of key staff positions had been cut.[7]

Senior Managing Partner Jason Epstein also owns Harmonix, the makers of Guitar Hero, whom he bought from Viacom in December 2010.[8][9]
