Michael Joseph Taylor,[2] better known by his stage name The Menace, is an American hip hop recording artist from Los Angeles, California. He was a member of the Crenshaw Mafia Bloods.
The Menace was born to Linda Smith and Joe Taylor. Menace was the youngest of eight children. Growing up in Compton, California Menace became a member of the local street gang, Fruit Town Piru.
In 2002 Menace was introduced to now rap star The Game through a mutual friend. In that same year he joined Black Wall Street. Releasing his first project in 2010 titled “Menace II Society” earned him street credibility in Compton and Los Angeles. He also gained a buzz among fellow bloods with his follow up projects Menace II Society Vol. 1, Vol. 2 and Living Life Reckless.
The Compton native’s first single was “It Ain’t My Fault” featuring Birdman of Cash Money Records which gained minor radio play in market across the United States. Menace has recorded songs with a wide range of artist including Lil’ Wayne, Tyga, Meek Mill, The Game, Mario, Young Buck, Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Z-Ro, Trae Tha Truth, 8Ball & MJG, and Drumma Boy.
2013-present
Menace has participated in three domestic and two international tours which included Europe, Africa, and Japan. The Menace prepared to release his debut EP in late 2014.
In May 2014, issues between Menace and The Game were revealed to fans, when the pair began dissing each other on social media.[3] Menace expressed his frustrations of his former friend siding with one of his enemies, while accusing him of not supporting his music career and/or the careers of other artists in the Black Wall Street camp.[4]
In 2015, Menace had a minor role in the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, in which he played a Crenshaw Mafia Bloods member named 'OG 2-Tone'.
