The Connecticut River Academy is a magnet high school for grades 9 - 12, located in East Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut. It is colocated with Goodwin College, a small 4-year college which moved to the site in 2005. Connecticut River Academy opened in 2010 and graduated its first 4-year class in 2014. The school's themes are environmental sciences and college readiness, and it focuses on preparing kids for college life and adult-hood. One such method is the senior capstone project, in which students must shadow a mentor for a minimum of 15 hours, and write a lengthy reflection on how they gave back to the community in some way.
