Conroe Police Department (Texas)

The Conroe Police Department serves the city of Conroe, Texas, the county seat of Montgomery County. The department has its headquarters on Old Montgomery Road. It is headed by Philip Dupuis. The department has 128 full-time police officers, 40 support staff and eleven reserve officers.[1]

The department has a number of bureaux. The Uniformed Services Bureau includes the Patrol Division, SWAT unit and honor guard. The Support Services Bureau the Criminal Investigations Division and animal control unit.

Slain officers

On 14 September 1982, Sergeant Ed Holcomb was shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance call.[2]

Misconduct

In July 2013, Conroe Police Sergeant Jason Blackwelder was off duty, and he observed store employees chasing a shoplifting suspect. He joined the chase. In an isolated area, Blackwelder killed the suspect with a single gunshot to the back of the head. In June 2014, he was convicted of manslaughter. He was sentenced to five years' probation.[3][4]
