Contentful
Contentful is a cloud-based API for content, co-founded by Sascha Konietzke and Paolo Negri, that officially launched in May 2014.[1][2] It is a presentation agnostic platform which distributes content across any device or application by using RESTful APIs.[1][2]

History
- The company created StorageRoom, a first version of the product, in 2011[1]
- The company received an undisclosed amount of funding from Balderton Capital and Point Nine Capital in June 2013[3]
- A beta version of Contentful was released on June 26, 2013 as the successor to StorageRoom.[4]
- On this day an Advisory Board was also announced.[4]
- Adam Wiggins, co-founder of Heroku, joined the Advisory Board in May 2014.[5]
- General availability of Contentful announced 13 May 2014.[2]\
How it Works
Editors manage content in a web-based editing interface.[6] Developers load the content through the global Content Delivery API into custom presentation layers on any platform (native mobile and tablet apps, connected vehicles, smart-watches or regular websites).[6][7]
Pricing Model
Contentful is a SaaS company which earns its revenues by following a freemium model. Users have limited access to the service free of charge until they hit limits, after which they must pay monthly for extra access.[1]
