Its flagship product, CoreMedia 8, is a digital experience (DX) platform that enables marketers, publishers and e-Commerce professionals to create online experiences that combine editorial content, social media, e-commerce, rich media, and flexible design elements - and deliver them dynamically across any digital channel.

Company History

The company was founded by Prof. Joachim W. Schmidt, Prof. Florian Matthes, Andreas Gawecki and Sören Stamer as a spin-off from Hamburg University of Science and Technology. Its first two customers were Deutsche Presse Agentur and Axel Springer Verlag.

In 2000, the company was renamed CoreMedia AG and the following year Deutsche Telekom launched its T-Online portal on CoreMedia software.

In 2002, CoreMedia was selected as the CMS standard for all German public authorities as part of the Bund 2005 initiative.

The company opened its first North American offices in 2005.

In 2007, the company launched its first Social Software Extension.

In 2012, CoreMedia introduced Elastic Social, an enhanced version of its social toolset with new social interaction capabilities, content moderation tools, user management, and a scalable NoSQL data store. The same year, CoreMedia launched its dedicated solution for Media and Entertainment companies.

The company introduced CoreMedia 7 in February 2013.

CoreMedia LiveContext 1.0 for IBM WebSphere Commerce was launched in January 2014. CoreMedia LiveContext 2.0 for IBM WebSphere Commerce was launched in May 2014.

CoreMedia delivered the current version of its flagship product, CoreMedia 8, in March 2015.[2]

Products

CoreMedia 8 is a Java-based digital experience platform that supports high visitor traffic, efficient business user collaboration, e-Commerce integration, multi-site/multi-language publishing, and omni-channel services delivered to a range of digital consumer devices.[3]

Additional CoreMedia 8 product modules include the Adaptive Personalization solution for delivering contextually relevant web experiences, and Elastic Social which provides a scalable platform for incorporating and moderating social media, and CoreMedia Live Context. The LiveContext solution offers pre-integrated web experience management capabilities for users of IBM WebSphere Commerce and SAP Web Channel Experience Management e-Commerce platforms.

The primary user interface for the CoreMedia products and solutions is called the CoreMedia Studio, which is an AJAX-based Web application for content editing, review and approval.

CoreMedia Blueprint is a development framework which contains preconfigured tools, templates, and features for web application development.[4]

CoreMedia deploys an information-based, object-oriented document type model that separates content management from presentation.

CoreMedia’s clients include the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Bertelsmann, BILD, CLAAS, Continental, EPCOS, Deutsche Telekom, Internet Broadcasting, JD Group, Tchibo, Telefónica Germany and ZDF.

Solutions

CoreMedia LiveContext

CoreMedia’s LiveContext solutions provides pre-built, real-time integrations with both IBM WebSphere Commerce's[5] e-Commerce platform. CoreMedia is an IBM WebSphere Commerce Validated Technology Partner solution. CoreMedia LiveContext gives business users the ability to augment their e-Commerce stores with marketing content and create more immersive customers experiences. They can also blend e-Commerce transactional information with branded content, improve the layout and design, and include rich media and social discussions. Media and Entertainment

The Media and Entertainment solution is a set of on-premise software components for publishers, broadcasters, and media portals. It is based on the CoreMedia CMS and a version of the CoreMedia Blueprint designed specifically for media companies. Companies can also opt for software-as-a-service offerings provided by CoreMedia partners Internet Broadcasting and T-Systems Multimedia Solutions that leverage CoreMedia’s digital experience platform.[6]
