Corps general

Corps general is a rank corresponding to the Commonwealth and US rank of lieutenant general. For convenience the rank in foreign armies is normally translated as lieutenant general. In France a général de corps d'armée is actually an appointment of divisional general, rather than a substantive rank. In Italy it is generale di corpo d'armata.

Former use

In the Czechoslovak Army, rank of a corps general (Czech: sborový generál, Slovak: zborový generál) existed between 1947 and 1953. It was replaced by the colonel general (generálplukovník) rank under Soviet Army influence in 1953.
