Corpus Christi Community (CCC) in Greenvale, Australia, accommodates elderly men who are in need of a home. It was founded by Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity in 1974, and soon after handed over to the Society of Jesus and Sisters of Mercy to run with assistance from a large group of volunteers.

How the home functions

Corpus Christi Community offers a medium to long-range home for up to 92 men who are in need for any reason: loss of job, family difficulties, illness, misfortune. It allows the men to be as independent as they are able and offers assistance as needed. This includes meals, medication and nursing care, addressing mental and addiction problems, recreation and skills building activities, pastoral care, and optional Mass daily. It serves all, regardless of religious beliefs. Facilities include a recreation center, gym, library, internet access, and small theatre, and there is a cemetery on the grounds. For activities it offers games, movies, gardening, arts and crafts, and field trips.[1]

The government covers the daily living expenses for the men[2] but volunteers assist with many aspects of the house's running. Donations from individuals and corporations are relied upon, especially for capital improvements.[1]
