The County of Hindmarsh is one of the 49 counties of South Australia. It was proclaimed by Governor George Grey in 1842 and named for Governor John Hindmarsh.[1] Its area occupies Fleurieu Peninsula and the southern coastline to Lake Alexandrina as well as the south eastern Mt Lofty Ranges and eastern slopes from Mount Compass and Mount Barker to the west bank of the Bremer River.[1]
