The Cowlitz Black Bears is an amateur baseball team located in Kelso / Longview, Washington. They play in the West Coast League, a collegiate summer baseball league. The league comprises teams from British Columbia, Oregon and Washington. Cowlitz calls David Story Field on the campus of Lower Columbia College home.[3]

The Black Bears began play as an expansion team in the West Coast League in 2010. In their inaugural season, they managed a record of 18 wins and 30 losses. In the following season, their record improved to 28-26, with the team narrowly missing the WCL playoffs by losing the final game of the season. In 2012, the Black Bears made it to the playoffs, coming in second in the West division, but lost in the first two games. [4]

The Cowlitz Black Bears had a 24-30 record on the season finishing 3rd in the WCL South division. The Bears took 36,795 fans out to the ball game to see 31 games with 1,188 fans per game. The Bears were 13 games behind the leading Bellingham Bells who had the only winning record of the whole division.
