History

In 2008, Tina Roth-Eisenberg founded CreativeMornings in Brooklyn, New York.[8] It was founded to facilitate creative communities and provide a space for people to share and discuss their work.[9][10][11] The lecture series expanded to Zurich, Switzerland and Los Angeles, California in 2010.[12] In February 2011, San Francisco established a CreativeMornings chapter.[5] That July, the lecture series expanded to the United Kingdom.[3] CreativeMornings partnered with John Maeda, President of the Rhode Island School of Design and its STEM to STEAM initiative to host a series of unified events in May 2012.[9][13] In May 2014, Brussels, Belgium hosted its first lecture sponsored by FastTrack.[14] Louisville, Kentucky established a CreativeMornings chapter that December.[15] It was the 101st city to join the organization.[15]

Locations

CreativeMornings has chapters in over 100 cities worldwide including New York, Boston, Paris, Zurich, Berlin, Mexico City, Milan, Bangkok, Seoul, Sydney, Singapore, Tijuana, and Cape Town.[6][4][9][8]Each chapter is produced and led by a local organizer.[8]

Events

Lectures are held monthly on a Friday morning with breakfast.[16] The goal of CreativeMornings is to host a city’s creative community and encourage conversation while being inspired by a guest speaker.[17][18] The topics of the lecture series range from education and urbanism to bravery and food.[15] Presentations are filmed and archived online for public access.[11]
