Cretoxyrhinidae is an extinct family of sharks. Members of this family include Cretoxyrhina, a genus from the Cretaceous, and Palaeocarcharodon, a possible ancestor of the Great white shark and perhaps the Carcharocles megalodon, which may be the largest shark to have ever lived.
